We're just under a month away from Valentine's Day. Can you guess what that means for the store here at Contented Comfort? Our Valentine's specials are back!
From now until the holiday itself, you can find our Strawberries and Champagne and Sensational Sweets varieties in the Holiday Specials section.
Today's post is a throwback to a DIY tutorial I wrote for my old mommy blog back in the day. My girls loved wearing hair bows, but they also had a tendency to tear them apart to "recycle" the ribbon whenever the mood struck. So I took to making their hair bows.
With the holiday coming up, I thought I would share a basic tutorial on a simple but pretty bow my girls loved. They're even designed to be intentionally lopsided, so they're more or less goof proof.
It’s that time of year again, folks. Thanksgiving is next week, and that means I’m gearing up for the annual Black Friday/Cyber Monday and Christmas sales!
The Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale runs from 6 a.m. Friday, November 25 through 5 p.m. Monday, November 28. During this sale, all bath and body and knit or crochet products will be marked down 50-75%. All books, including ebooks and signed paperbacks, will be marked down 20%.
Grandma's Kitchen and Pumpkin Maple Crunch soaps are returning to the store beginning November 1! They'll only be around for the holidays though, so if you love these scents, make sure to order yours before December 31.
Long time fans will remember our classic strawberries and champagne scent, but they might not recognize it's new look. Gone is the massive heart shaped soap. The bars are now made of sparking, lacy white glycerin with the classic pink, goat milk heart inserted within them. Surrounding the heart are curls of gold mica.
These beauties are sure to be a welcome addition to your sweetheart's Valentine's Day. They're available in our store now, but they won't be for long! Make sure to pick yours up now.
As we change over from a winter only seasonal rotation to a truly seasonal rotation, there is a hiccup in the schedule. This is a huge benefit to you, however, as you can now get all the out of season seasonal items on clearance half off while supplies last!
A few items such as Cinnamon Honey and Peppermint Cream are not included as they will be regular features in our winter seasonal line. This clearance sale applies to fragrances migrating to our spring, summer, and fall lineups such as Bonfire, Blueberry, Fresh Apple, Apple Pomegranate, and China Orange as well as our holiday specials, Pumpkin Maple Crunch and Grandma's Kitchen.
Make sure subscribe, so you don't miss any of the exciting new holiday and seasonal items to come in 2016.
Today brings our first DIY tutorial to the blog. I've been stitching these somewhat time consuming but inexpensive and easy poinsettia ornaments each December for the past four or five years. I love the look of poinsettia flowers, but I'm bad about remembering to water plants and didn't like the thought of having poisonous flowers around with small children. So these felt beauties were a way to bring them into our home for the holidays with minimal cost, fuss, and worry.
The materials needed are simple. For every two ornaments you want to make, you need one 8.5x11 inch sheet of felt in green and whatever color you want your poinsettia to be. You'll need a pack of acrylic gems, a roll of thin ribbon, a needle and thread, and a hot glue gun with plenty of glue sticks.
I'm excited to tell you about a new tradition we're starting. You already know about our seasonal scents, but we're also adding special holiday fragrances and designs to our yearly rotation! These specials will be made available for only four to six weeks around their holiday, and of course, we're beginning with Thanksgiving and Christmas.
These two new fragrances are available now through New Year's Day, and once they're gone, they aren't returning until the week before Thanksgiving 2016. So, stock up while you can!
No Thanksgiving would be complete without pumpkin. Pumpkin Maple Crunch is a decadent blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, rich maple syrup, and crunchy pecan. The soaps are a blend of our glycerin and goat milk soaps in a warm amber with toffee colored swirls and chunks and baring a cheerful pumpkin in the middle.
What's more reminiscent of holiday cheer than the kitchen at Grandma's house when it's packed with relatives and holiday goodies? Bring those memories back with this bright blend of vanilla bean, cinnamon, peppermint, warm apple pie, and just a hint of coffee brewing in the background.
The soaps are our glycerin and goat milk recipes colored with mineral oxides and mica powders.
