I posted my first book review on Contented Comfort's sister site yesterday. It is the first in a planned series of reviews I will publish on my author's website. Most, but probably not all, of the books will fall somewhere within the science fiction or fantasy genres. So if you like those kinds of books and would like to find a few new authors, make sure to go subscribe. I will post new reviews as I finish the books. I am dyslexic and juggle several different roles, so once a month might be as frequent as I can muster unless the books are short. Want a quick run down of my scoring system?
5 Stars = Give me all the books this person wrote! I want them now! 4 Stars = That was fun. I might have to keep an eye out for more by that author. 3 Stars = It was okay, but I'm not sure if I want to read more of their work. 2 Stars = Yep, I'm not reading any more of their books. 1 Star = Yuck! Never again. No Stars = Pass the brain bleach, please. How do I grade the novels? I follow a specific rubric looking at seven aspects of genre fiction: premise, world building, deus ex machina, writing, characters, pacing, and ending. I give each aspect its own star rating and detail my reasoning. Then I average the scores to get an overall score.
