![]() Those who have seen us around at conventions will probably already recognize Chris. He's been a seasonal sales clerk for Contented Comfort for five years now, but that's been it. He came in to help at conventions and other events, but that was it. Not any more. Chris is joining the team as our new Assistant Manager! With his help, we hope to be able to continue bringing you terrific items to add some cute and geektastic touches to your home and growing. So everyone, please give him a warm welcome.

This year's Con Kasterborous was a mix of the familiar and a lot of firsts for us here at Contented Comfort. Chris and I saw a lot of familiar faces during set up the Friday night before and all throughout the weekend for me, and Sunday for him. Of course, everything was brand new for Allie since this was her very first year attending anything but set up. For those who do not know, Allie came on as my apprentice back in December. She's a bit young, true, but she has a real passion for the types of fandoms we make items for, at least those she's allowed to watch or read. And she has both an artistic eye and a nose for perfumery. So she has been studying different aspects of the business around her school schedule for the past seven months.
The first of this year's new fragrances took a bit of a throwback to a classic anime for its inspiration, the villain turned antihero, Lord Sesshomaru from Inuyasha.
As I've mentioned a few times, Contented Comfort was named with the idea it'd carry a variety of items designed to help our customers create a content and comfortable atmosphere in their homes: quality bath and body products, novels, and a variety of cosy blankets, quilts, house shoes, hats, etc. A couple of years later, the decision was made to focus heavily on fandom inspired items instead of more general fragrances and designs, and the original crochet and knit items fell by the wayside as the soaps and perfumes took off.
However, I've been wanting to get more into making crochet, knit, and sewn items in the past year, but I just haven't had much time to work on them. Then my eldest decided to come on board as my apprentice/assistant this year. Valentine's Day is less than a month a way. Don't leave it to the last second to get something special for your honey or your home decor. You can't go wrong with a classic design and scent combo like these Strawberries and Champaign soaps. They have a light, sweet, and almost creamy fragrance of fresh, sweetened strawberries and sparkling champaign.
The holiday season has officially begun, and for those of you here in the Tennessee Valley who are either a bit on the nerdy side or love someone who is, you have to check out Nerdy Noel 2.0 coming up in a couple of weeks! I'm going to be there with a bunch of other artists and crafters who make items with a geeky flair to help you round out your holiday shopping.
From the lack of activity here and elsewhere on the web, as well as a landing page announcement here and a Facebook notice we were going out of business a little over a month back, things weren't looking so great for Contented Comfort. However, the driving force behind that lack of activity and the notices evaporated a couple of weeks back, so the plans being put into motion to close up shop were halted!
We missed out on this year's Rocket City NerdCon, for which we're all sorry, but Contented Comfort is still alive and kicking. We've hit a bit of a speed bump with the events of the past four months, but C. L. and I are working to get everything back on track and better than ever. It's design season here at Contented Comfort! Planning for 2017's nine new permanent fragrances began before New Year's Day, but production never begins before the end of April. Well, it's here. Manufacturing began last week, and today I'm pleased to introduce two of our upcoming fragrances.
Spring is right around the corner, and you know what that means. Our spring seasonal fragrances, April Showers and Strawberry Picking are back! April Showers is a bright and airy blend of marine, ozone, lily of the valley, lavender, juniper, rose, and fresh soil. Each bar is just a bit different from each of the others, and their intricate, bright design make them perfect for adding a touch of spring to your home decor. This blend of strawberries, dirt, honey, citrus, peach, rose, jasmine, and lily will have you longing to find the nearest farm that hosts strawberry picking.
We're just under a month away from Valentine's Day. Can you guess what that means for the store here at Contented Comfort? Our Valentine's specials are back!
From now until the holiday itself, you can find our Strawberries and Champagne and Sensational Sweets varieties in the Holiday Specials section. |
