![]() As always, Con Kasterborous was a great experience. There were a few small hiccups, which is to be expected with any convention, particularly with a new venue. Most notably, the hotel double booked conventions without considering if they had enough parking to accommodate the crowds. But, there is ample parking nearby, so it wasn't a big deal. We got to be close to the main room and artist alley again this year, which was a boon. During the convention, I don't get many opportunities to step away from the booth. So I love being able to walk by the artists' booths and hear the reactions of the crowd in the main room. On the whole, the convention was a bit slower this year than it has been in the past. Considering several were talking about the area's big anime convention having been just the weekend before, it wasn't unexpected. Still, for us, it's far and away our biggest event of the season. Even if it wasn't, we consider much of the staff and regular attendees friends, and we have a blast seeing them whenever we can.
The guests this year were Colin Baker, who played the sixth version of The Doctor; Frazer Hines, who played Jamie; Caitlin Blackwood, who played young Amelia Pond; Ellie Collins, an actress and author of Empire Valley; Kelly Yates, a comic book artist for the Doctor Who series; and Andrew Cartmel, one of the show's writer's. They were all charming, warm, and friendly. If you'd like to see more, go see the convention vlog Chris and I shot while there. As we say at the end, we had a blast having a productive weekend, and we look forward to next year.
